Happy Valentine’s Day! (Timelapse Video)

With my massive sweet tooth, I never thought it was possible to eat too much chocolate. Boy, was I wrong…I found my boundary and subsequently have zero desire for candy this Valentine’s Day!  If you need me, I’ll be at the gym.

We hope that YOU get to eat as much chocolate as you want today!

#FinalPrintIssue

A perfectly fitting cover for Newsweek’s final cover. Using the Hashtag not only explains why, but also sums it up in Twitter-style (most efficient use of characters.)

History:Retouched

As a Photography student that learned the craft during the beginning stages of Digital, I was still taught the original techniques used to retouch by hand.  Beyond the exposure manipulation of “dodging/burning” prints and “pushing/pulling” film, I learned how to get rid of dust and scratches using very fine-point brushes and dyes.  Also, I could lighten someone’s eyes or get rid of scars/acne on a model.  Advanced retouchers could create entirely new scenes, combining different frames of film into one final magical image.

I knew this happened a lot for ad work/fashion magazines throughout history, but I never thought to question every single image in my History book. This blows me away.

State Fair Of Texas’ Mascot, “Big Tex” Up In Flames

Today, the 60 year old mascot of The State Fair Of Texas, Big Tex, caught fire.

20121019-163650.jpgticket photo by Cyndi Long      “Big & Bright.”  Boy, were they right.

The State Fair has been running a weekly photo contest. I’m guessing this week’s entries will look a lot like this:

Officials believe the fire was caused by an electrical short in his boot.  Most Texans believe the blame can be fully placed on Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.

There’s no doubt that Big Tex will be back bigger and better next year, but I’m guessing the 60yr anniversary t-shirts will now be a collector’s item:

Photos: 160 Pounds In 1 Year

These photos aren’t that great aesthetically, but are amazing to see, nonetheless. Watch a woman lose 160 pounds in her dressing room photos:

Stuffed Animals Created From Children’s Drawings

These stuffed animals created directly from children’s drawings are nothing less than amazing. The craftsmanship looks impeccable.
I’m tempted to dig out old drawings of my own, just in case they start taking orders again soon!

New Work By Brent Larson

I’ve been fortunate enough to know Brent for 20 years now (yowza!) He’s always had incredibly creative vision, but his work has grown to a higher level of imagination that can only be found when sharing time with a child.©Brent Larson
